Down With The Sickness

Oh yea this is perfect to describe how I’ve been feeling this weekend.

Maybe there’s something going around, maybe it’s the change of weather, maybe it’s those thick ass chem-trails I saw a few days ago.

My immune system is usually pretty strong, so I’m not sure why I’m taking such a beating on this.

It’s always good to try and find the good in things, so since I’ve been sick I have been able to catch up on a ton of sleep, take a day off from work, and get some extra school work done.  Oh yea, and watch useless crap on TV too.

TheraFlu? NyQuil, Advil… NO! None of that crap.  I rather be sick an extra day than put all those chemicals in my body.  For the past few years, I’ve decided to stop taking over the counter “medication” and start taking “alternative medicine”. I don’t know why it’s called alternative medicine if it was around before big pharmaceutical companies got their grimy paws on things.  When I first feel like I’m about to get sick, what I do is chop up 2-3 cloves of fresh garlic and wash it down with a glass of orange juice.

Garlic has some amazing properties for preventing and curing colds.

That usually does the trick for me, but not this time.  This sickness has been kicking my ass.  So I kicked things into high gear.  In my blender, I put fresh ginger, mandarins, honey, and cayenne pepper.

All of those ingredients have natural properties that fight the cold/flu.  Want to know one of the best parts about this?  -Cost Effective-  A huge piece of ginger cost me $1.07, a 3 pound bag of mandarins $4.99, and the rest of the ingredients I already had in my cabinet.  This information should be more publicized.  It’s not because where’s the profit in ginger?  It’s not always about money.  Think about it…  I’ll leave us with these quotes from great minds.

“There is no money in healthy people or dead people. The money is in sick people.”
Bill Maher

“Let your food be your medicine, and your medicine be your food.”

“The doctor of the future will give no medicine but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease.”
Thomas Edison
